Didžiosios scenos foje

KAMILĖ DAMBRAUSKAITĖ (LITHUANIA) AND SHOLTO DOBIE (SCOTLAND/LITHUANIA)

BELLS+ORGANS live

Installation and performance of self-made instruments and workshop

Running time: 85 min plus an interval

Audience age recommendation: For audiences aged +6

In the foyer of the Big Stage

Kamile is sound artist based in Vilnius.

At the moment her practice as a sound artist involves many different forms of DIY ranging from building lo-fi loopers to building more sacral sounding instruments like tubular chimes.

Sholto Dobie was born in Edinburgh and lives in Vilnius. He works with sound, music and performances as well as organising events and exhibitions. He uses loose structures and an array of sound-sources including home-made organs, hurdy gurdy and field recordings.

Their self-built instruments, based on organs and bells, usually belong to gatherings and specific buildings such as churches and clocktowers. But in both of their work, they remove the walls and architecture, leaving the core materials of the instruments.

Both artists are paying attention to make instruments as light weighted and portable as possible, unlike the instruments from which they drew their inspiration from, their deconstructed mutating sound objects are made to travel.

For their performance they will present a semi improvised performance, exploring their materials together and searching for overlaps between their archaic instruments and the foyer of Kaunas Drama Theatre.

After the performance there will be an interactive workshop where artists gonna present their instruments and audience is invited to interact/play
